Why should you use a derestricted CDI? The CDI module on original 50cc vehicles is usually restriced by the manufacturer in order to meet the applicable emissions standards, in this case the Euro 4 standard. This limits the motorcycle in terms of power and top speed. To increase power and top speed, you can install an "open" CDI to remove this restriction. For vehicles with Euro 4, however, it may be necessary to remove further restrictors in addition to the CDI in order to completely derestrict the engine. Please note: It will be necessary to replace the CDI if you install a sports/racing cylinder or exhaust. Installation CDI: Installing a new CDI unit is extremely easy as it is a "plug & play" system.
