Rare offprint issue of this innovative and early work on X-ray. It was published in Verhandelingen der Koninklijke Akademie van Wetenschappe, (Tweede sectie), Deel IX, n° 1. To illustrate this paper, Pieter Hendrick Eijkmann realised some moving images with X-ray to describe the functioning and movements of the throat during swallowing. Pieter Hendrik Eijkman (1862-1914), the brother of Nobel-Prize Christiaan Eijkman, brought important innovations to the development of medical radiology. In 1909, he also developed a method of stereographic X-Ray. The booklet is illustrated with 3 plates : one showing Eijkman's special X-Ray device and two folding showing an X-ray of the throat and its movements. Partially uncut.
